Why Choose the UK?
- 1
Shorter, focused degrees
Most UK master's programmes are completed in one year, and most bachelor's degrees take three years (four in Scotland). This reduces total tuition and living costs and lets graduates start their careers earlier.
- 2
Strong academic reputation
The UK is home to many of the world's leading universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, UCL and the University of Edinburgh. UK degrees are widely recognised by employers and universities around the world.
- 3
Quality and standards
UK universities must meet nationally set standards for teaching and quality. Only recognised institutions can award UK degrees, so check that your chosen university appears on the UK government's official list of recognised bodies.
- 4
Research and innovation
The UK has a strong research culture, with well-equipped laboratories and close links between universities and industry. Students can study subjects such as AI, engineering, medicine, business, finance and creative industries with up-to-date resources.
- 5
Post-study work opportunity
After completing an eligible degree, international students can apply for the Graduate Route. It allows graduates to work or look for work in the UK without needing an employer sponsor. Graduates can later move to a skilled work route if they get a suitable job offer from a licensed employer. The length of stay is set by government rules, so check GOV.UK for current details.
- 6
Work while studying
Students on a Student visa studying at degree level can usually work part-time during term and full-time during official holidays. The weekly hour limit is set by the visa conditions, and exceeding it can affect your visa. Part-time work helps with living costs and builds experience.
- 7
Student support and scholarships
Universities offer career services, academic support, wellbeing services and international student advice. Many also offer scholarships, including the Chevening, Commonwealth and university-specific awards. Eligibility and funding vary, so check each scheme's official website.

Entry Requirements
Study in the UK – Entry Requirements
Admission & Visa Process
Follow our straightforward 5-step process to secure admission at your dream university in the UK.
- 01
Offer Letter 🎓
- Choose a UK university licensed to sponsor international students.
- Apply through UCAS (undergraduate) or the university's own portal (postgraduate).
- Submit your academic records and proof of English, or a university-approved waiver.
- You first receive a conditional offer.
- It becomes unconditional once you meet all conditions, such as final results or an English test.
A deposit is a separate requirement set by the university.
- 02
CAS & Student Visa 🛂
- The university issues your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies).
- Use the CAS to apply for the Student visa.
- Show enough funds for your remaining first-year tuition plus living costs.
- Living-cost amounts are higher for London than elsewhere.
- The money must be held in your account for the required minimum period.
- Degree-level students can generally work part-time in term time and full-time in official holidays, within visa limits.
- 03
Graduate Visa 🔍
- Apply from inside the UK while your Student visa is still valid.
- No job offer or sponsor is needed.
- You can work or look for work at any skill level.
- Pay the application fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge.
- PhD graduates get a longer stay than other graduates.
The Graduate Route cannot be extended and is not a route to settlement.
- 04
Skilled Worker Visa 🏢
- Find a job with a licensed sponsor.
- The job must meet the required skill level and salary threshold.
- Recent graduates may qualify for a lower “new entrant” salary rate.
Skill and salary requirements change often, so check GOV.UK for current figures.
- 05
ILR & Citizenship 🏡
- Apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) after the required continuous years on a Skilled Worker visa.
- Pass the Life in the UK Test.
- Show the required English level.
- Stay within the limit on days spent outside the UK.
- Remain in qualifying sponsored employment.
After holding ILR for a further period, you can usually apply for British citizenship.
