Why Choose Australia?
- 1
World-class universities
Australia has many universities ranked among the best in the world, including several in the global top 100. The Group of Eight (Go8) are its leading research universities. Rankings are a useful starting point, but you should also compare the course, location and cost.
- 2
A wide range of study levels
Students can choose from foundation programmes, diplomas, bachelor's degrees (typically 3 years), master's degrees (usually 1โ2 years for coursework) and PhDs. Foundation and diploma options help students who need a bridge into a degree. Only courses registered for international students are eligible for a student visa.
- 3
Post-study work rights
Eligible graduates can apply for a temporary graduate visa. It allows them to live and work in Australia after study without employer sponsorship. Key points:
- The length of stay depends on your qualification level.
- Applicants must meet an age limit and a minimum Australian study requirement.
- Graduates who studied and lived in a designated regional area may be eligible for extra time.
- The visa is temporary and does not lead directly to permanent residency.
- 4
Work while studying
Student visa holders can work part-time during their course and have fewer limits during official breaks. Master's by research and PhD students have more flexibility. Work limits are strictly enforced, so treat work as a supplement to your funds rather than your main way of paying for study.
- 5
Convenient for Asian students
Australia's time zones are close to many Asian countries, which makes travel and family contact easier. Major cities have large Asian communities and widely available Asian food and cultural services. Universities provide international student support, including orientation, English support and career services.
- 6
Safe, multicultural environment
Australian campuses host students from all over the world. The environment is generally safe and English-speaking, which helps you build language skills, global networks and cross-cultural experience.
- 7
Scholarships
Both the Australian government and universities offer scholarships for international students, including awards aimed at students from eligible developing countries. Eligibility and funding vary by scheme and university.

Admission & Visa Process
Follow our straightforward 5-step process to secure admission at your dream university in Australia.
- 01
Admission ๐
- Choose a course registered for international students and check its academic and English requirements.
- Apply to the university directly or through an authorised agent.
- Submit transcripts, an English test result, your passport, a CV and a statement of purpose. Some courses also need a portfolio, work experience or research proposal.
- After you accept the offer and pay the required deposit, the university issues your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
If you want PR later, choose a course and field that fit an in-demand occupation.
- 02
Student Visa (Subclass 500) ๐
- You need your CoE, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the whole visa period, and a valid passport.
- Apply online and meet the Genuine Student requirement. Write your own answers about why you chose this course, this provider and Australia.
- Show enough funds for tuition, living costs and travel.
- Provide English test evidence, plus health checks, police certificates and biometrics if requested.
- Work is limited to 48 hours per fortnight during study periods.
- 03
Arrive & Settle In โ๏ธ
- Arrange flights and accommodation, and carry your passport, visa grant, CoE and OSHC documents.
- Attend orientation and enrol in your units.
- Open a bank account and apply for a Tax File Number before working.
- Follow your visa conditions on study and work hours.
- 04
Temporary Graduate Visa ๐ผ
After completing your course, apply from within Australia if you meet the study, age and English requirements.
- It lets you live and work after study without a sponsor, and the length depends on your qualification and regional study.
- It is temporary and does not give PR on its own.
- Use it to build skilled work experience, get a skills assessment and improve your points.
- 05
Permanent Residency ๐ก
Main pathways:
- Skilled Independent (189): Points-tested, with no sponsor. You need an eligible occupation, skills assessment, English, an Expression of Interest and an invitation.
- Skilled Nominated (190): The same process plus state or territory nomination.
- Skilled Work Regional (491): A provisional regional visa that can lead to permanent residence (subclass 191).
- Employer-sponsored (482, then 186): An employer sponsors you in an eligible skilled role, and you can transition to permanent status after meeting the work requirements.
The points test has a minimum score of 65, but invitations usually need a higher score.
